Steven M Seibert Steven M. Seibert's career as a lawyer, mediator, elected official and statewide agency director is founded upon innovative leadership and a successful knack for resolving difficult disputes. The St. Petersburg Times described Seibert as "a consensus builder with an eye to the future" and as one of Florida's "significant thinkers."

Seibert is a 1977 graduate of The George Washington University, where he was chosen for Phi Beta Kappa, and is a 1980 graduate of the Law School at the University of Florida. For the succeeding decade, he practiced environmental and land use law in both the public and private sectors.

Seibert was elected to the Pinellas County Commission in 1992, and in that capacity served as its Chairperson twice, as Chair of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Agency on Bay Management, as a charter member of the region’s water supply authority (Tampa Bay Water), and as a member of the Tampa Bay National Estuary Board.

After re-election without opposition in 1996, Steve was tapped by Governor Jeb Bush to head Florida’s Department of Community Affairs (DCA) in 1999, and he served in that capacity until 2003. As Secretary of DCA, Seibert was a member of numerous statewide bodies, including the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, the Governor's Growth Management Study Commission and the Florida Community Trust Governing Board.

Governor Bush called Seibert "an outstanding public servant" and noted "his ability to bring people together to achieve meaningful reforms will be his lasting legacy."

Seibert is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS). Steve was a charter Board member (created in 2004) of what is recognized as the world's largest crop nutrition company and serves as Chair of its Environmental, Health and Safety Committee.

Steve Seibert is a certified mediator and has gained a statewide reputation for helping to resolve contentious environmental and land use disputes. He was awarded the statewide "Excellence in Mediation Award" and was significantly involved in helping to broker the end of the Tampa Bay "water wars." Seibert holds an AV legal rating and has been named one of Florida's "Legal Elite" by Florida Trend magazine.

Seibert is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Florida Humanities Council and the Association of Professional Futurists.
