Thomas M. Pennekamp is City President and Government Relations Manager with SunTrust Banks, Inc. and is responsible for the enhancement and protection of SunTrust’s interest in legislative and regulatory matters. Tom began his banking career in 1987 after serving as a Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army. He joined SunTrust Bank in November, 1996, and has served in his current position as City President since October 2007.
Tom serves on the Board of the Tallahassee Economic Development Council, the Florida Chamber Political Action Council and the Florida Chamber Political Institute. He also serves on the American Bankers Association’s Government Relations Council, the Florida Bankers Association’s Government Relations Council and is Past Chairman of the Florida Banker’s Political Action Committee. Tom currently serves on the Board of the Friends of Florida State Parks and previously was its President. He has also served as Chairman of the Communities in Schools of Leon County and President of Woodland Hall Academy. Tom graduated from Florida State University in 1984 with a degree in Political Science. He and his wife Jana have two children and live in Tallahassee. I am proud to continue the Pennekamp family’s involvement and commitment to the Florida Park Service by being an active member on the Friends of Florida State Parks Board. I enjoy working with the Friends organization and the many volunteers and dedicated Park staff as we collectively help to protect, enhance and perpetuate the Florida State Parks. |
