Each year the Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc sponsor our signature event, the Annual Friends Workshop. This event draws park Citizen Support Organizations (CSO) from all over the state to learn, share and network in an effort to better support the award-winning Florida State Parks. The conference features seminars and workshops from professionals in nonprofit leadership, development, marketing and management. It also provides an opportunity to learn from State Park management and from each other. Last year's workshop, held at Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa was rated the best ever. Carol will also offer a workshop session titled "Recruiting, Orienting and Rewarding A Diverse Board"
Great board members don't grown on trees. There has to be a strategy as to where to find and orient young, dynamic board members and keep them involved. You will learn:
Where to find board members who are different from your current members, even in the smallest of towns.
How to create a mentoring program.
How to develop a board orientation that is so terrific your members will want to bring their friends and relatives.
How to let your trustees go when you no longer need their particular skills, talents or expertise without inciting hurt or a nuclear reaction.
Some board members already are passionate about your mission. Some need to be educated. You will learn how to create a "mission moment".
How to reinforce the behavior you need while discouraging the inappropriate.
How to create a board that is mission focused, joyful, productive and has fun.
